Prof. Yusuf BİLEN

Born in 1970 in Erzurum, he completed his primary and secondary education in Erzurum. In 1996, he graduated from Selçuk University, Faculty of Education, Department of Classroom Teaching. After working as a classroom teacher for a while, he became a research assistant at Atatürk University, Faculty of Theology, Department of Islamic History and Arts in 1998. In 2001, he prepared a master's thesis on "Calligrapher Mustafa Halim Özyazıcı, his life, art and works". In 2004, he received an icâzetnâme in sülüs-nesih writings from Calligrapher Mehmed Özçay Bey. In the same year, he was awarded the "Sixth International Calligraphy Competition Incentive Award" by the Islamic History, Art and Culture Research Center. In 2010, he completed his doctorate with the study of "Calligrapher Mehmed Şevki Efendi and the Sülüs-Nesih Calligraphy School". In 2013, he became an Assistant Professor at Atatürk University Faculty of Theology, Department of Islamic History and Arts. In 2019, he became an associate professor at Süleyman Demirel University Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Calligraphy and in 2024 he became a professor. He still continues his duty at the same university. Within the framework of the Erzurumlu İbrahim Hakkı Symposium, he wrote Erzurumlu İbrahim Hakkı's Tefvîznâme poem in nesih calligraphy and prepared a book titled "Tefvîznâme". He wrote many articles about art in culture and art magazines. He participated in many group exhibitions and opened solo exhibitions. He has works in many fields such as plates, kıt'a, hilye-i şerîfe, book covers.
