Following graduation from Hacettepe University School of Medicine (1991-1997), he finished his residency training on obstetrics and gynecology at Dr. Zekai Tahir Burak Women's Health Hospital, Ankara (1997-2002). Subsequently, he started his academic career at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Süleyman Demirel University School of Medicine (2002- ). He visited Harris Birthright Research Center for Fetal Medicine, King's College, London and Division of Obstetric and Gynecologic Ultrasound at New York University Grossman School of Medicine. In 2011, he was qualified as a perinatologist (maternal fetal medicine). As of 2020, Dr. Mekin Sezik has published over 100 articles, finished 4 research projects supported by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey, and is the author of a book on fetal heart examination.
