Özet

Objective: This study aims to adapt the Munich chronotype questionnaire for shift workers (MCTQShift) into Turkish and to examine its psychometric properties in healthcare professionals. Material and Methods: A total of 519 healthcare professionals (289 nurses, 230 physicians) participated in this cross-sectional study. The adaptation comprised forward translation, synthesis, back translation, expert panel review, and pilot testing. Validity evidence was examined through concurrent (criterion-related) validity (with the reduced morningness-eveningness questionnaire, rMEQ), convergent validity (with a self-assessment chronotype item), and known-groups validity (sex, age, work schedule). Results: A significant negative correlation was found between the MCTQShift chronotype value and rMEQ (r=−0.466; p<0.001), and a significant positive correlation with self-assessment (r=+0.416; p<0.001). A significant difference with a large effect size was observed between continuous daytime and non-daytime workers in the MCTQShift-derived chronotype/sleep-timing indicator (t(517)=−11.804; p<0.001; d=1.053). Expert panel content validity values were high (CVR=1.00). Conclusion: These findings demonstrate that the Turkish version of the MCTQShift exhibits promising psychometric properties for use with healthcare professionals.
