Özet
While people have shared resources for thousands of years, interpersonal sharing was reshaped into the sharing economy with the emergence of computer and internet technologies in the early 21th century. In the past, sharing was facilitated through close relationships within families or local communities. Today, however, new forms of sharing are enabled by digital platforms and the social reliability that these platforms provide, rather than by pre-established close relationships with the sharers. The development of sharing economy platforms has led to the emergence of various applications in urban areas. Sharing applications are used at all scales due to their fast accessibility through social platforms, the uncertainty of their borders and the diversity of users. Therefore, it is very difficult to control or standardise sharing. While these applications facilitate daily life and have a positive impact on urban development in some cities, they have negative effects in others. This situation has revealed the necessity of localised regulation and support of sharing practices and planning of the urban environment. Sharing cities have emerged as a result of the inclusion of sharing economies in urban planning. Sharing cities encompass the enhancement of digitalization in urban spaces, the increase of human-centric social interaction, and the implementation of legal and administrative regulations in this area. It is important to regulate the development of sharing applications in urban areas according to the demands and needs of users. In this context, it is necessary to evaluate the situation of irregular and rapidly spreading sharing applications in our country. Considering the regulatory impact of sharing cities, Beşiktaş, where sharing applications have rapidly expanded, has been chosen as the sample area. Accordingly, the aim is to assess the spatial, economic, and socio-cultural impacts of sharing applications in urban settings. This evaluation will focus on various sectors such as transportation (e.g., Uber, Blablacar, Martı), accommodation (e.g., Airbnb, Couchsurfing), and non-residential space sharing (e.g., co-working spaces, meeting room sharing). Additionally, the study will investigate the usage patterns of these applications within the Beşiktaş district. The method of the study is to obtain theoretical knowledge through literature review and to evaluate the theoretical knowledge according to local characteristics through survey analysis in Beşiktaş. The survey targets adult individuals residing in Beşiktaş and using digital platforms. The sample size for the webbased/online survey is determined as 300 people. The data collected will undergo statistical analysis to evaluate the usage tendencies of the identified urban sharing applications, including the frequency, purpose, reasons, and preferences for use, as well as the most demanded applications. The literature review revealed that sharing applications have been evaluated in various fields such as their economic dimensions, social impacts, and contribution to sustainability. However, the direct evaluation of the spatial, economic, and socio-cultural effects in urban areas has not been conducted. Therefore, it is important to determine the effects of sharing applications on urban residents in Beşiktaş through survey analysis. From this perspective, the study will contribute significantly to the literature.
