Özet
The safety of reinforced concrete buildings can only be ensured by the safety of the load-bearing
system elements. Column elements have an important role both in safely transferring on to the
foundation of the vertical and horizontal loads and in limiting the relative story drifts. Columns that are
designed without complying of code rules in existing buildings or that do not meet the project criteria
must be strengthened. In recent years, researches have focused on subject strengthening of the columns
by using the near surface mounted method for reasons such as do not change the stiffness of the
element, ease of application, etc. In this method, a groove is made at concrete cover layer of the
column element and additional reinforcements are placed in this groove with the help of repair mortar.
Within the scope of the study, the capacity calculations of a reinforced concrete column, of which
experimental results were obtained by strengthening with the near-surface mounted method in the
literature, were analytically obtained and the effectiveness of the change in diameter, number, and
material type of the reinforcement to be added on the capacity was investigated. As a result of the
analytical calculations, the moment capacities of the cross sections at 15% and 30% axial load levels
increased by 16.4%-113.3% and 6.4-85.7%, respectively.
