Abstract

Biomimicry can be defined as the application of nature's unique solutions in any area of life. the term of “biomimcry” was firstly used in the 1960s though  observation and imitation of nature dates back to the as much as the history of  existent of man.  Today, biomimicry is used in many fields ranging from architectural designs which airflow is controlled to space exploration.  Biomimicry is the application of the structure, mechanism and design of living things to overcome the problem in another field. Plants offer solutions of all sizes, for example imitation of trees to umbrella-making the protection from  the sun light, or the imitation of a molecule involved in photothesis for use as artificial catalyst.  In this review, the studies carried out by inspired from plants are emphasized. Some  biomimicry of plants are categorized and properties of materials produced and which engineering field is applied
