Corrosion and wear behaviour of boronised and unboronised AISI 8620 steel was investigated by the weight loss method. Corrosion studies were performed with a 10% H2SO4 solution as a corrosive medium at temperatures 273, 298, 333 and 353 K and 2 h immersion period, while wear studies were performed with a gear wear test machine as a function of test time. The obtained results showed that the wear and corrosion behaviour of the steel were improved about 25 and 95 times, respectively, by the boronising treatment compared with the unboronised steel.
