Özet
Objective: The aim is to assess the awareness of rational drug use among third-year dental students and the associated factors. Methods: The study was conducted in 2024 to semester 3 students in the faculty of dentistry. The questionnaire consisted of a rational drug use scale and sociodemographic questions. Data were collected face to face. The dependent variable of the study was the total score obtained from the Rational Drug Use Scale. Statistical analysis was performed with SPSS 22.0. Results: The average age of the study group was 21.34 years. Among the participants, 53.1% were female, 84.7% had a nuclear family structure, 55.1% lived alone and 32.7% lived with a friend. The average total score of the Rational Drug Use Scale was 38.04. The total score of the Rational Drug Use Scale was significantly higher in those who chose the dental school willingly compared to those who did not choose the dental school willingly (P=.042). Conclusion: In this study, it was concluded that the level of knowledge of Rational Drug Use was high in dentistry students, and there is a need for more studies to reveal the cause and effect relationship in terms of preventing unnecessary and excessive drug use, which is a common problem all over the world.
