PRODUCTION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF ZINC OXIDE NANOPARTICLES WITH LAVENDER AND THYME EXTRACT
Phyto nano synthesis method is one of the popular green synthesis methods in recent years, as it prevents the formation of chemical pollutants that occur in high amounts. Plant extracts are effective elements in the reduction of metal salts with their biochemical agents. Lavender and Thyme are medicinal aromatic plants, because of their phenolics with alcoholic groups, are offer very rich solutions in terms of metals reducing. In this study, it was aimed to produce zinc oxide nanoparticles by using Lavender (Lavandula officinalis) and Thyme (Origanum minutiflorum) extracts. In the study, thyme and lavender extracts were used for the reduction of ZnCl2 and Zn(NO3)2 solutions. Optical characterizations of nanoparticles were made with UV-Vis spectrometry and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Elemental analysis was performed with Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS).
