In this research, fruit of '0900 Ziraat' sweet cherry (Prunus avium L.) were stored in three different packages at 0 degrees C and 90 +/- 5% relative humidity for 35 days. Package 1 was made of plastic and was produced locally in Isparta. Packages 2 and 3 also were plastic and were imported. The fruit in all three packages were of good quality on the 28(th) day of storage. On the other hand, based on external appearance, stored fruit were marketable after 35 days. At the end of the storage period, the total loss of weight ranged between 0.16% (Package 3) and 0.23% (Package 1). Fruit firmness increased until the 28(th) day and then decreased. All fruit had a redder appearance after 35 days than initially. The fruit in all three packages had similar green stem colour after 35 days. The soluble solids content of cherries fluctuated during the storage period in the packages. While titratable acidity decreased a little, pH increased. In conclusion, fruit in the locally produced package lost slightly more weight and stems were slightly more brown (both due to the bag's higher permeability to moisture), but overall cherry quality was as good as in the other packages during the 28 day storage period.
