Özet

The effect of induction hardening and boronising on the wear behaviour of GGG-70 grade spheroidal graphite cast iron was experimentally investigated under dry sliding conditions. The boronising of the samples was carried out in a solid medium using the powder pack method while induction hardening of the samples was carried out at 1000 Hz for 10 s. The wear tests using a pin-on-disc machine showed that the boronising treatment improved the wear behaviour of graphite cast iron specimens compared to induction hardened graphite cast iron as a result of increased surface hardness. Boronising was found to be a highly effective surface hardening method for achieving high wear properties in GGG-70 grade spheroidal graphite cast iron.
