Samples were taken from the lips and the histochemical method was applied. As a result of histochemical studies, mucous cells and taste buds were determined from lips epithelium. Histochemical analysis showed that the lips mucous content included carboxyl groups (sialic acid or uraonic acid) and/or with sulphate esters (AB pH 2.5 +), glycogen and/or oxidable dioles (PAS +), neutral or acid-rich (PAS-AB pH 2.5 +), strong acid sulphated (AF +), sulphate and carboxylic acid (PAS-AB pH 2.5 +) glycoconjugates.
