Özet
This study focuses on the documentation and preservation of traditional Zeybek costumes specific to Western Anatolia, by examining a private collection assembled for cultural heritage purposes through oral history and visual documentation methods. Collected over a span of nearly fifty years by folklore researcher Abdurrahim Karademir, this collection holds archival value as it represents the tangible cultural assets of the Zeybek tradition in the Aegean region. The study utilizes structured interviews to document the personal narratives of the collector, his methods of acquisition, and his approach to local folk culture. Each item in the collection was analyzed visually using original photographs and technical drawings. Data sheets in catalog format were prepared for each costume element, detailing material, color, cut, ornamentation, and symbolic meanings. The research adopted a qualitative design combining descriptive analysis, document review, and oral history techniques. In conclusion, the thesis emphasizes the significance of academic contributions in documenting individual cultural collections and advocates for the support of such efforts by local governments and universities. Furthermore, it offers suggestions on how individual-based approaches in oral culture preservation can be integrated into archival and museological frameworks.
