Özet
Purpose: The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of planned pilates exercises on motor performance and body composition in primary school children. Methods: A total of 193 children, n = 95 in the pilates group and n = 98 in the control group, were included in our study. The pilates group practiced pilates mat exercise 3 times a week for 12 weeks. The control group continued their routine physical education classes during this period. Motor performance (balance, flexibility, speed, agility, etc.) And body composition analysis (height, weight, fat mass, muscle mass, etc.) Were evaluated twice at the beginning and at the end of the study. Results: As a result of the study, a significant difference was found in all parameters in motor performance tests in the group in which pilates exercise was applied (p < 0.05). When body composition evaluation results were compared, statistically significant differences were found between the groups in height, bmi (body mass index), fat mass and muscle mass (p < 0.05) Conclusion: It shows that pilates exercises applied in healthy sedentary children of primary school age is an economical, simple, reliable and feasible method to improve motor performance and reveal positive effects on body composition in children.
