Abstract

Loop probes can be used either as a transmitter or a receiver antenna. If it is loaded resistively, a flat response can be obtained. Physical size and electrical parameters of such probes must be optimized in order to get the good response. As it is well known, common inductance equations are in general form and they are derived for general case. Such a type of loop probe has narrow physical properties. A certain equation can be derived with more accuracy by using conventional empirical derivations or by using modern optimization techniques. In this study, 56 different probes were made in a very narrow physical range. For precise results, Fuzzy Logic Algorithm (FL) has been used. The membership functions of the FL which can be created by using database were obtained from experimental studies and measurements. Error surfaces were plotted to see how close our estimation to the observed data is. Finally, a new empirical equation was developed to calculate the inductance of such probes with more accuracy.
