Özet
BiFeO3 (BFO) is a promising visible-light-responsive photocatalyst; however, its intrinsically weak magnetization makes its separation and recovery from treated water difficult, limiting its practical application and repeated reuse. In this work, BFO/BNNS-Co nanocomposites containing 10, 20, and 30 wt% BNNS-Co were developed to address this limitation by integrating photocatalytic activity with magnetic recoverability. The layered BNNS framework provided a porous platform for the dispersion of BiFeO3 and cobalt nanoparticles, while metallic Co imparted enhanced magnetic properties to the composites. Among the investigated samples, BFO/10BNNS-Co exhibited the best balance of properties, with a magnetization of 7.3 emu g−1 and a coercivity of 600 Oe, enabling efficient magnetic separation. Under natural sunlight, pristine BFO achieved 98% methyl orange degradation within 105 min, whereas BFO/10BNNS-Co maintained a comparable degradation efficiency of 96.5% within 120 min. More importantly, the magnetically recoverable composite retained its photocatalytic activity over six consecutive cycles, with only a 12% decrease in degradation efficiency. These findings demonstrate that BNNS-Co incorporation provides an effective strategy for overcoming the separation and recycling limitations of BiFeO3 photocatalysts while preserving high photocatalytic performance. The developed BFO/10BNNS-Co composite therefore shows strong potential as a reusable and magnetically recoverable photocatalyst for solar-driven wastewater treatment.
