Özet
This study explores the role of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) in shaping productive capacity amid economic complexity, economic policy uncertainty, and geopolitical risks for a panel of OECD countries. The period of observations runs from 2003 to 2023. The results based on quantile-on-quantile regression demonstrate that ESG uncertainty has a gradual, progressive positive impact on productive capacity across the lower and higher quantiles. The dependence of productive capacities on geopolitical risks is negative. In the causality in quantile results, economic policy uncertainty, economic complexity, ESG uncertainty, and geopolitical risk influence productive capacities across quantiles, except the lower ones. As far as the wavelet–quantile regression results are concerned, ESG and productive capacity show strong positive variation across the lower and middle quantiles. These findings underscore the need for policies that incentivize firms to enhance transparency and sustainable development while ensuring geopolitical stability. Policy makers need to provide strategic guidelines for building sustainable innovation. The empirical findings of this study provide nuanced guidelines for policymakers to encourage companies to adopt sound ESG policies that sustain productive capacity.
