anti-chloro(g-nitro phenyl)glyoxime (CPNPGH(2)) has been synthesized by chlorination of anti-p-nitrophenylglyoxime. The reaction of CPNPGH(2) with suitable aryl- or arylklyamines in ethanol between -5 degrees C and -15 degrees C gives unsymmetrical vic-dioximes, namely, anilino-p-nitrophenylglyoxime (APNPGH(2)), benzylamino-p-nitrophenylglyoxime (BAPNPGH(2)), p-toluidino p-nitrophenylglyoxime (PTPNPGH(2)) or p-anisidino-p-nitrophenylglyoxime (PAPNPGH(2)). The Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes of these ligands are square-planar while the Co(II) complexes are octahedral with water molecules as axial ligands. H-1 NMR, IR and elemental analyses data of the complexes and ligands are given.
