Özet
Apollo is a multifaceted deity associated with music, art, prophecy, as well as disease and health, which is why he has many epithets. In Pisidia, the god is worshipped with various epithets, including 'Propylaios', meaning 'before the gates' or 'guardian before the gates', which is associated with health or external threats such as war. Apollo Propylaios is remembered as a deity who keeps enemies (epidemics) away from the city gates with his arrows. The name and title of the deity are verified by the reverse legend on the Roman Provincial coins of Kremna, a city in Pisidia. The deity is portrayed with his bow extended and moving towards the right, with khlamys flying due to the motion. Two other cities in the region, Apollononia and Klaudio Seleukeia, also feature the same iconography on their coins. In a few cities in Asia Minor, a small number of coins of the 'Apollon Propylaios' type were minted during the same period as those found in Kremna. This situation appears to be linked to prophecies that arose from consultations with people seeking to combat the plague epidemic that emerged during Marcus Aurelius' Parthian Expedition in 165-166 AD at Apollo Claros.
