Investigation of photon attenuation in Turkish marbles

Abstract

The total linear attenuation coefficients mu(cm(-1)) have been obtained using the XCOM program at photon energies of 1 keV to 1 GeV for six different natural marbles mined in various location in Turkey. The individual contributions of photon interaction processes to the total linear attenuation coefficients for marble have been investigated. The calculated results were also compared with the measured results available in the literature.
